A man who spiked candy with sedative and gave them to minors at a youth camp in the area has admitted sexual offences against two young males aged between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight youngsters and one adult experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from that region, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he stood at Leicester Crown Court on Friday.
However, he refused to admit one of the sexual offences he was facing, which was against a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was remanded in custody prior to a subsequent court date on 28 November.
'Treat game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, detailed the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She explained his targets were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a summer program which he managed.
The man engaged in a "candy game" with the minors, the legal counsel said, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and tell them to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".
She told the court the man had played this game with the boys "over an extended period", and minors had earlier experienced illness the following morning.
She said the defendant had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had concerns in recently.
Mrs Prior KC added: "In the summer" his stepson had worries about what was going on, justifiably.
"They decided to investigate in the individual's items."
The legal counsel said materials including lubricant, Vaseline and medical needles were discovered, and his stepson contacted the authorities about his suspicions.
She said the man continued to play the "treat game" with six children that evening - July 26th - and they were all ill the next day.
"The police had not arrived by that time," she continued.
The regulatory agency, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, earlier informed that it was investigating the police response of the incident.
The prosecutor stated the minors were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so the family member contacted the law enforcement a second time.
She explained the man then played the "treat game" in a room of five minors.
